Nomenclatural notes:— Kunth & Bouché (1846) described this taxon based on material cultivated in the Botanical Garden Berlin, but did not specify a herbarium, thus making all specimens of that gathering syntypes (Art. 40.2 Note 1). There are two sheets of this collection at B, each of them bearing its own label and they are not cross-labeled (Art. 8.3), indicating that both sheets should be treated as duplicates. We designate B101277889 as the lectotype because it represents the most complete and diagnostic specimen.
