scientific name

Pentzia stellata
status

According to Herman (1999), Pentzia stellata View in CoL

occurs only on seasonally waterlogged pans that consist of unweathered calcrete. These pans are often exploited for calcrete rock used in road construction. One of its major habitats is the Ghaap Plateau, where numerous such ephemeral pans occur. Unfortunately, this habitat is under threat due to increased mining activities in the area. A few known populations are situated on farms where they may be affected by habitat degradation due to trampling and overgrazing. It has a very small Area of Occupancy, estimated to be less than 20 km ², and is listed as Near Threatened (SANBI 2017a).
