The habitat of Lithops aucampiae subsp. aucampiae View in CoL

is characterised by very shallow soil, exposed limestone outcrops and no cover from shrubs or trees, which creates an extremely harsh micro-environment (Cole 1988). This species is a popular collectors’ item and as such, is under threat.
