TYPE SPECIES. — Paleoferreolina xiedensis X.-T. Xu & C. Waichert , n. sp.; monotypic genus.

ETYMOLOGY. — From grec ‘palaiós’ ( παλαιός), meaning ancient, and ‘ferreolina’, a subtribe proposed by Priesner (1969), which the new species is morphologically related to. Gender feminine.

DIAGNOSIS. — As for the type species.
