Basionym:— Cassia chrysotingens Hoehne (1919: 44) . Type:— BRAZIL. “Colhida no Lambary além de Campos Novos da Serra do Norte”, November 1914, Hoehne 5413 (lectotype, designated by Silva et al. [2022]: R-13998!).

Notes:— The morphological study of the Chamaecrista setosa complex carried out by Silva et al. (2022), the authors elevated some of the varieties to species rank. However, they mistakenly elevated C. setosa var. detonsa to species level while there was already a validly published name dating from 1919— Cassia chrysotingens , previously recognized as distinct from Chamaecrista setosa . According to the INC ( Turland et al. 2018), the species rank takes precedence over a taxon described at varietal rank, even if the latter was described later. Therefore, we propose here the new combination for Cassia chrysotingens . For further information on the species, including description, morphology, imagens and distribution, see Silva et al. (2022).
