TYPE SPECIES: Gulo sibiricus Pallas, 1780 View in CoL (= [ Mustela View in CoL ] gulo Linnaeus, 1758 View in CoL ), by absolute tautonymy ( Melville and Smith, 1987).

COMMENTS: Corbet (1978c) attributed Gulo to Storr, 1780. Gulo Frisch, 1775 , is invalid (International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature, 19546).
