Comments. Brèthes (1913a: 310) described the genus Archoprotus by originally designating the species Archoprotus porteri Brèthes, 1913 . In a different publication with the same date, Brèthes (1913b: 239) described again the same taxon designating the same type specimens. Townes & Townes (1966: 287) acted as the first reviewer in determining that Brèthes (1913a) takes the precedence among the two publications (ICZN 1999: article 24.2.2).
