Type genus. Omalodes Dejean, 1833 (original designation).
Diagnosis. Length (pronotum+elytra) 4.0– 9.3 mm, elytral width (humeral region): 2.2–7.8 mm. Cuticular color dark or dark-brown; body shape oval, parallel or subparallel-sided; marginal stria of prosternal lobe when present extending laterally beside the lobe; prosternum with posterior glands opening located below the lateral marginal striae; postmesocoxal stria absent; inner row of setae of protibiae ending in an apical cluster; aedeagus, basal piece with lateral-dorsal projection localized latero-dorsally; parameres shape at some point cylindrical.
Geographic distribution. Omalodini are distributed in all Neotropical region, with a few species extending into the southern Nearctic region.
