General distribution: Cosmopolitan. Widespread in subSaharan Africa, South Europe, China, New Zealand, Australia. Introduced to many other parts of the world, including Hawaii and the Canary Islands.
Distribution in Israel: All over Mediterranean part.
Period of flight in Israel: March–January.
Host plants: Various Poaceae species. Pest of rice.
