Croton aemulus is a shrubby species endemic to Mata Escura Biological Reserve, in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The species can be found in Cerrado domain, growing on sandy soil ( Barbosa et al. 2018), between 800 and 1134 m elevation.
Notes:— Croton aemulus is morphologically similar to C. graomogolensis , primarily in its pistillate and staminate flowers. However, the two species can be readily distinguished by their stipules (resembling a bunch of grapes in C. graomogolensis vs. lanceolate in C. aemulus ).
