5. Croton glandulosodentatus Pax & Hoffmann (1923: 176) View in CoL . Type:— BRAZIL. Piauí: Campo Grande, 1914, P. von Luetzelburg 12680 (holotype, M 0086093! [photo F 19477!]; isotype, NY 00246543 !).
A shrubby species exclusively from the Caatinga domain in northeastern Brazil, in the states of Bahia, Ceará, and Piauí. It occurs from 396 to 700 m elevation, growing on sandy soil.
Representative specimen:— BRAZIL. Bahia: Canudos, Estrada de chão sentido Parque Nacional de Canudos (Bendengó), 9º54’47”S, 39º3’60”W, 396 m, 30 June 2007, D.S. Carneiro-Torres 988 (HUEFS 0121825!).
