Type species.

Phanerochaete alnea (Fr.) P. Karst.

Notes.

In our phylogenetic analysis (Fig. 2 View Figure 2 ), Phanerochaete was recovered as a monophyletic with strong support of 59 species, including the three new species ( Phanerochaete albocremea , P. fissurata , and P. punctata ) presented here. The basidiomata of Phanerochaete s. s. are typically membranaceous, in which the hymenophore is usually smooth, but tuberculate, grandinioid, odontioid to hydnoid or even poroid hymenophore occur in some species. Microscopically, Phanerochaete is characterized by having mostly a monomitic hyphal system with ordinarily simple septa hyphae and clavate basidia. Cystidia present in many species, which may be naked or encrusted, and often with thin walls. The colorless subiculum is present in most species, but a brownish subiculum also occurs ( Chen et al. 2021; Deng et al. 2024).
