It can be distinguished by the yellow ground color of the forewing ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 1−8 ), the sacculus bilobed apically and the phallus with a cornutus ( Fig. 29 View FIGURES 29−34 ). In M. malacognatha , the ground color of the forewing is yellowish brown, the sacculus is not bilobed apically, and the phallus lacks a cornutus ( Li & Wang 2002: 232, fig. 3).

Female genitalia ( Fig. 48 View FIGURES 45−48 ). Papillae anales sub-quadrate, setose. Apophyses posteriores approximately 1.5 times as long as apophyses anteriores. Eighth sternal plate spiculate; posterior margin deeply concave at middle, lined with long setae, anterior margin straight. Lamella antevaginalis sub-trapezoidal, broadly concave on posterior margin, deeply concave medially on anterior margin. Antrum sub-rectangular. Ductus bursae long, membranous, uniform in width except slightly narrower anteriorly; ductus seminalis arising from ductus bursae near entrance of corpus bursae. Corpus bursae shorter than ductus bursae, ovate; signum ovate, with small and large spines, apical spine largest.
