Meleonoma costiclavata sp. nov.

( Figs 8 View FIGURES 1−8 , 30 View FIGURES 29−34 )

Type material. CHINA, Yunnan: Holotype ♂, Qinlangdang (27.69°N, 98.27°E), Mt. Gaoligong , Nujiang , 380 m, 28.V.2017, leg. KJ Teng et al., slide No. ZXJ19360 GoogleMaps . Paratype, Yunnan: 1♂, same data as holotype, except 31.V.2017 GoogleMaps .

Diagnosis. The new species is similar to M. echinata Li, 2004 in the male genitalia by the costa with a very large process. It can be distinguished by the sub-lanceolate uncus, the long costal process reaching beyond the tip of the costal margin of the valva, and the sub-rectangular sacculus. In M. echinata , the uncus is clavate, the costa has a short process reaching before the tip of the costal margin of the valva, and the sacculus is triangular ( Li & Wang 2004: 38, fig. 8).

Description. Adult ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 1−8 ). Forewing length 5.0– 5.5 mm.

Head with yellow scales (worn). Labial palpus yellow; second segment with scattered black scales on outer surface, denser in distal 1/2, black at apex; third segment with scattered black scales from middle to before apex. Antenna yellow; flagellum annulated with black on dorsal surface.

Thorax and tegula black basally, yellow distally. Legs yellow, with exceptions on ventral surface: coxa of foreleg with scattered black scales, tibia black except yellow at middle and at apex, tibiae of mid- and hindlegs with scattered black scales, tarsus of foreleg black except yellow at apices of basal two and apical one tarsomeres, tarsus of midleg with basal four tarsomeres black except yellow at base of basal tarsomere and at apices, tarsus of hindleg with scattered black scales on basal three tarsomeres, all femora with scattered black scales. Forewing narrowly lanceolate, apex narrowly rounded; ground colour yellow, with scattered black scales forming a black stripe extending along basal 1/3 of costal margin; costal spot black, triangular; apical patch black, extending from distal 1/5 of costal margin along termen to before tornus; tornal spot black (worn), sub-triangular; fold with scattered black scales medially; cell with black spot beyond middle and at outer margin respectively; fringe dark brown, with a yellow basal line. Hindwing and fringe grey.

Abdomen. Male genitalia ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 29−34 ). Uncus sub-lanceolate. Tegumen arched, uniformly banded except narrowly rounded at anterior end laterally. Costal part of valva slightly narrowed from near base to 1/6 its length, then widened to 2/5 its length, thereafter narrowed to rounded apex, setose; ventral margin folded dorsad from base, forming a triangular plate before 2/5; costa with a long clavate process arising from middle extending obliquely outward, parallel with costa, far beyond tip of costal margin, narrowed to acute apex; transtilla short, blunt at apex. Sacculus sub-rectangular, slightly narrower distally, weakly produced dorsoapically. Saccus sub-quadrate, obtusely rounded on anterior margin. Juxta U-shaped; lateral lobe curved distally. Phallus slightly longer than costal part of valva, tubular with a slender, clavate process distally; cornuti consisting of clustered small spines.

Female unknown.

Distribution. China (Yunnan).

Etymology. The specific epithet is a combination of Latin cost - and clavatus, referring to the clavate process of the costa.
