Diaphyta evansorum sp. n. (Figs 1–7)
Types. Western Australia. Holotype male, Mount Ragged , 22.iii.1968, I. F. B. Common and M. S. Upton ( ANIC) . Paratypes: 1 female, Walkaway , 3.i.1972, K. T. Richards ( WADA) ; 1 male, 1 female, Mullewa , F. May ( WAM) ; 1 male, Medina , 7.iii.1953, F. H. Uther Baker ( SAM) .
Other material examined (not types). Western Australia. 2 Females, Lucas ( WADA) ; 1 male, 29 km north-northeast of Geraldton, Moresby Range , 1.ix.1973, W. McFarland and N. McFarland, BM 1973-399 ( BMNH) .
Description. A rugulose species with orange tints; head, upper and lower surface mid-brown, antennae, rostrum midbrown. Thorax. Pronotum orange-brown, rugulose. Pleura and sterna yellow-brown. Mesonotum and mesoscutellum rugulose, orange-brown with 2 lighter calluses in lateral angles. Mesopleura and sterna yellowish-brown. Metanotum, metapleura and sterna yellowish-brown. Legs, mid-brown. Sternal keel reaching procoxae. Male genitalia. Pygophore: ventral margin almost straight with a small central emargination; dorsal margin broadly emarginate bearing 2 small spines, one on each side. Proctiger oblong. Claspers Fshaped, apically acute, bearing a number of setae on central flattened portion. Aedeagus. Theca small oblong. One pair of lightly sclerotised conjunctival appendages, strap-like. Median penial lobes somewhat sickle-shaped in side view, moderately sclerotised. Ejaculatory duct very short and lying between median penial lobes. Female genitalia. Very similar to species of Cuspicona ( Gross 1975) . Paratergites 9, bluntly rounded; hind margins of first gonocoxae almost straight. Spermatheca similar to Avicenna ( Gross & McDonald 1994), spermathecal bulb with 2 long processes.
Etymology. The species is named after the late John Evans and Faith Evans who have encouraged many in the study of the Hemiptera .
