Notes

Taeniopteryx maura is commonly referred to as the Spinyleg Willowfly ( Stark et al. 2012). The distribution of this species extends from southeastern Canada southwest to Tennessee and Mississippi, and further west to Oklahoma and Texas ( Stewart 2000, DeWalt et al. 2024). In southern Quebec, this species displays a univoltine-fast life cycle with a diapause period during the summer and early autumn ( Harper et al. 1991 b). Adults of this species are commonly encountered from mid-March to early May (Fig. 22 View Figure 22 ) from a wide range of elevations (31-582 m asl; Fig. 23 View Figure 23 ) in both small streams and large rivers across the state (Fig. 24 f View Figure 24 f ).
