* Gymnotus carapo australis Craig, Crampton & Albert, 2017 info type locality ssp. australis : Misiones, Iguazú basin remarks In Mirande & Koerber (2015) Gymnotus carapo was considered as not from Argentina. Craig et al. (2017) have described a new subspecies from the Iguazú river in Misiones. All records from other river basins in Argentina correspond to one of the below species of Gymnotus recorded from Argentina.
