Curimatus acutidens Valenciennes, 1837

first record Lahille (1895) sub Curimatus frederici remarks Leporinus acutidens is a possible jr. synonym of L. friderici and it could be more acurat to use the latter name for the Argentinean species. (Birindelli, comm.pers.). Thus, as the distribution of the

‘true’ L. friderici is restricted to northern South America

( Sidlauskas & Vari 2008, 2012), we prefer to apply L. acutidens until this issue is sorted out.
