Leptostylopsis albosignatus ( Fisher 1935:53) , new synonymy

Type locality: Of L. antillarum , Culebra Island, Puerto Rico ; L. albosignatus , Ponce, Puerto Rico .

These two species were distinguished by Fisher (1935) by differences in elytral coloration. Typical L. antillarum has a transverse, thin, W-shaped, whitish line at the apical one-third of the elytra ( Fig. 1 View Fig , b), while typical L. albosignatus has a large, rectangular, whitish patch at the middle of the elytra ( Fig. 1 View Fig , c). Types of both species were examined and compared with a series of 34 Puerto Rican specimens. Within this material there is broad range of variation in the elytral color pattern, with some individuals being entirely plain ( Fig. 1 View Fig , a), some marked with a large, rectangular, whitish patch, and others with a transverse, thin, W-shaped, whitish line. Specimens within series from any given locality may exhibit the full range of variation.
