Description: Anker & Pachelle (2014).
Distribution: Brazil (Bahia and Espírito Santo) ( Anker & Pachelle 2014).
Ecology: In sponges; 15–50 m ( Anker & Pachelle 2014).
Remarks: Synalpheus maxillispinus is part of the S. paraneptunus complex, and is morphologically similar to S. bocas and S. belizensis ( Anker & Pachelle 2014) . For a detailed comparison and distinction among these species, refer to Anker & Tóth (2008) and Anker & Pachelle (2014).
