Gardenia cambodiana Pitard (1923: 251)

Lectotype: — CAMBODIA. Kampong Speu Province: Samrong-tong, Mt Chéreer (now Samraong Tong District , Phnum Chreav ), April 1870, Pierre 540a (lectotype P00836467 ! designated here; isolectotypes P00836465 !, P00836466 !).

Four collections were cited in the protologue by Pitard (1923), but only two collections were traced in P. There are five sheets of the two collections, Pierre 540a (P00836465!, P00836466!, P00836467!) and Pierre 540b (P00836468!, P00836469!), with Pitard’s script of G. cambodiana in P. The localities annotated on the sheets as “Bay Remir. creicit Basi montis Chéreer in prov. Samrong-tong in Cambodge ” or “creicit Basi montis Krewanh in pro. Pursath in Cambodge ” consisted with the protologue, hence the sheets should be syntypes for G. cambodiana . The sheet P00836467 with two leafy branches, flowers and fruits agreed well with descriptions in the protologue and was therefore designated as the lectotype.
