Description (summarized from Haeckel, 1972 (II): 57): Apparently a variable network of partially upright tubes ending in small oscules, together forming an encrustation on algal fronds. Size of cormus up to 30 mm in lateral expansion. Skeleton and spicules: the walls of the tubes consist of a single layer of spicules. Tri- and tetractines are similar in shape, equiangular equiactinal, 80–100 x 10–12 µm, with apical actines of the tetractines often curved upwards.
Type locality: Java (collected by Mulder); also reported by Haeckel from Sri Lanka (collected by Wright) and the Red Sea (collected by Frauenfeld).
