Distribution: In all biogeographic regions, predominantly in tropical and subtropical zones according to Gielis (2003), who, however, overlooked the Israeli record of the species by Amsel (1935 a, as Platyptilia brachymorpha Meyr. ). Vargas et al. (2020) also mentioned S. taprobanes from Israel.
