Type species: Teulisna ganesha Volynkin, 2023 , by present designation.

Diagnosis. Species of the subgenus ( Figs 19–91 View Figures 17–33 View Figures 34–48 View Figures 49–63 View Figures 64–77 View Figures 78–91 ) are externally reminiscent of Teulisna (Tegulata) but are clearly different in their male genitalia structures ( Figs 102–144 View Figures 100–103 View Figures 104–107 View Figures 108–110 View Figures 111–113 View Figures 114–116 View Figures 117–119 View Figures 120–122 View Figures 123–125 View Figures 126–128 View Figures 129–131 View Figures 132–134 View Figures 135–138 View Figures 139–141 View Figures 142–144 ), which are characterised by the combination of the following features. (1) The vinculum lacks the processus intrinsicus, the medius and the medial saccate corema. The plostri with caselli are present in most species but the T. bipectinis and T. differens sp. n. species-groups. (2) The tendon is elongate and fused with its counterpart into a gelatinous string whereas other subgenera of Teulisna have a very short tendon. (3) The lamella centralis is short plate-like, with a thorn-shaped or triangular pseudoampulla in most species, situated in the middle of the valva. (4) The dorsal branch of the distal saccular process is relatively short. The female genitalia of the subgenus ( Figs 154–181 View Figures 153–157 View Figures 158–161 View Figures 162–165 View Figures 166–169 View Figures 170–173 View Figures 174–177 View Figures 178–181 ) display no fundamental differences from other subgenera.

Etymology. The subgenus name is an aggregate of the Greek ‘ποικίλος’ meaning ‘diverse’ and the genus-group name Lithosia Fabricius, 1798 , and refers to the surprising hidden species diversity of the new subgenus. Gender is feminine.

Note. The subgenus is reviewed below in the present paper.
