Teulisna obliquistria Hampson, 1894 View in CoL , The Fauna of British India including Ceylon and Burma. Moths , 2: 87 (Type locality (determined herein by the lectotype designation): “ Momeit , Burma ”) .

Type material examined. Lectotype (designated herein) ( Figs 29 View Figures 17–33 , 110 View Figures 108–110 ): male, “Momeit. | Burmah. | 2000 ft. | June 1890. | W. Doherty. ” / “ Tegulata | obliquistria. Hmpsn. | type ♂ ” / round label with red margin “Type” / “Collectio | H. J. Elwes. ” / “Rothschild | Bequest | B.M. 1939–1.” / blue label “ Arctiidae | genitalia slide | No. 4864 ♂ ” / QR-code label with unique ID “ NHMUK010401722 About NHMUK ” ( NHMUK).

Additional material examined. THAILAND: 1 male , 23–31.v.1991, Mae Hong Son [Province], Ban Si Lang, 1200m, J. Horák leg., gen. slide No.: AV7869 ♂ ( CKC) ; 3 males, 2 females, 17–23.v.1991, Mae Hong Son [Prov.], Ban Huai Po, 1600–2000m, J. Horak leg., gen. slide Nos: AV8461 ♀, AV8462 ♀, ( CKC) ; 1 female, Mae Hong Son Prov., Ban Huai Kung , 1060m, 18°08'09''N 98°08'31''E, Waldrand [forest edge], 3.v.2006, K. Černý leg., gen. slide No.: AV9298 GoogleMaps ♀ ( CKC) .

Note. The species was originally described from an unspecified number of specimens of both sexes from two places (“Sikhim …; Momeit, Burma ”) ( Hampson 1894). Subsequently, Hampson (1900) limited his treatment of the taxon to the specimens from “Momeit, Burma ”. Although only male sex was mentioned by Hampson (1900), the number of the type specimens was not specified by the author therefore this cannot be considered as a valid lectotype designation as the existence of syntypes is possible. In order to stabilise the nomenclature, the male specimen labelled as “Type” is herein designated as the lectotype.

Diagnosis. The forewing length is 11.0–12.0 mm in males and 12.0 mm in females. Teulisna obliquistria is externally very similar to T. tubularis sp. n. and T. subtilis sp. n. also occurring in Northern Thailand and differs from those species only in the slightly more prominent costal protrusion of the forewing. The reliable identification requires the examination of the genitalia structures, which are most similar to T. inthanona sp. n., the comparison with which is provided below in its diagnosis. The male genitalia of T. obliquistria are also similar to T. tubularis sp. n., from which they differ in the shorter and narrower distal saccular process, the somewhat longer and proximally narrower phallus, the broader proximal section of the vesica with a reniform ventral diverticulum (vs. one or two short semiglobular diverticula laterally and dorsally in T. tubularis sp. n.), the presence of the tubular medial diverticulum with a terminal cornutus, and the shorter and straighter distal diverticulum. In the female genitalia, T. obliquistria is distinguished from T. tubularis sp. n. by the anteriorly broader ductus bursae, the shorter but broader corpus bursae with a markedly shorter posterior sclerotised area, the lack of the posterior ventral protrusion of the corpus bursae, and the considerably smaller appendix bursae.

Distribution. The species is currently known from Northern Myanmar (Shan State) ( Hampson 1894) and Northern Thailand (Mae Hong Son Province) (present study).
