Triplaris dugandii Brandbyge (1984: 761–762) View in CoL
Type:— ECUADOR. Pastaza Province. Rio Bobanaza [=Rio Bobonaza]. Between Huagracachi and Cachitama. Below Montalvo. 300 meters. 76°43’W, 2°2’S, 18 July 1980 (fr), Øllgaard et al. 34607 (holotype: AAU [ AAU 3714 View Materials , AAU 3715 View Materials , AAU 3716 View Materials , digital image!]; isotypes: AAU [ AAU 16460 View Materials , digital image!], GM, MO, NY, S [ S 07-13587 , digital image!]) GoogleMaps .
Notes:— During our examination of specimens of Triplaris dugandii , we found some labelled as “ Triplaris inaequalis Dugand ex Brandbyge. ” This name does not appear to be published. Brandbyge lumps specimens labeled T. inaequalis Dugand into his concept of Triplaris dugandii Brandbyge ( Brandbyge 1986) .
There is variation in the spelling of the type locality. In the protologue it is given as “Rio Bobanaza” but the maps that we have seen use the name “Rio Bobonaza”. The Rio Bobonaza fits the major elements of the type locality. There is a Cachitama on the Rio Bobonaza. Moreover, Cachitama is adjacent to a large, undefined locality by the name of Montalvo. This Montavlo region seems to also go by the name of Andoas. We were unable to locate a Huagracachi.
