Type (designated by Pendry 2004):— BOLIVIA. Ynquisivi Province, December 1846 (fr), Weddell 4197 (lectotype: P [ P 734738]).

Notes:— Weddell (1849: 268) cited a specimen reporting “ Cat . nostr. [Catalogus nostrum], n° 4197”. Three years later, Walpers (1852: 296) reported “ TR. ( RUPRECHTIA ) MOLLIS Weddell ”, thus proposing a nomenclatural change of Weddell’s name using the same original description. Brandbyge (1986) erroneously reported “ Triplaris mollis Walpers ”.
