Type Locality: Cameroon, 15 km S Kumba ( 4°39'N, 9°26'E). GoogleMaps

Vernacular Names: Peterson's Free-tailed Bat.

Distribution: Cameroon and Ghana. Koopman (1993) included "perhaps Sierra Leone " in the distribution, but there are apparently no documented records from that country (J. Fahr, pers. comm.).

Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (nt).

Discussion: Subgenus Xiphonycteris .
