Type species. Gonatium cheliferum Menge, 1868 View in CoL ; gender neuter.
Remark. Genus Gonatium comprises 20 species (one of them known only from males) known in Kenya (misplaced in this genus, incertae sedis) and across the Holarctic, of which two species have been reported from China (Hebei, Gansu) (WSC 2025). Millidge (1981) conducted a comprehensive revision of the genus Gonatium , confirming its monophyly through synapomorphic genital and somatic characters.
