Type material. CHINA: Chongqing Mun., Jiangjin Dist., Simian Mt. Nature Reserve: Holotype ♂ (SWUC-T- LIN-35-01), Dawopu , 28°34.302′N, 106°21.15′E 1002 m a.s.l., 11.XI.2011, L.Y. Wang and Z.X. Li leg. GoogleMaps

Etymology. The specific epithet is derived from type locality; adjective.

Diagnosis. Oedothorax simianensis sp. nov. resembles O. paludigena Simon, 1926 in having the similar unmodified cephalic region and with similar tibial apophysis in palp ( Fig. 3A–D; Millidge 1975, figs 1–9), but can be distinguished by the distal arm tip of paracymbium (PC) bifurcated ( Fig. 6B; vs hook-shaped); protegulum (PT) bifurcated ( Fig. 6B; vs not bifurcated); embolus half the length of radix ( Fig. 6A; almost as long as radix).

Description. Male (holotype, Fig. 7A, B): total length 2.09; carapace 0.94 long, 0.67 wide, brown with gray pattern, ocular region slightly elevated, cephalic pits absent, fovea, cervical and radial grooves distinct. Clypeus 0.11 high. Chelicerae with 5 promarginal and 4 retromarginal teeth. Sternum brown, longer than wide. Ocular region black; AER recurved, PER straight, slightly wider than AER. Eye sizes and interdistances: AME 0.07, ALE 0.05, PME 0.5, PLE 0.06, AME–AME 0.03, PME–PME 0.08, AME–ALE, 0.02, PME–PLE 0.05, AME–PME 0.06, ALE–ALE 0.29, PLE–PLE 0.32, ALE–PLE contiguous. Length of legs: I 2.65 (0.74, 0.22, 0.68, 0.62, 0.39), II 2.41 (0.64, 0.22, 0.45, 0.48, 0.30), III 1.61 (0.64,0.22, 0.45, 0.48, 0.30), IV 2.73 (0.79, 0.23, 0.69, 0.64, 0.38). TmI 0.61. Tibial spine formula: 2-2-1-1. Opisthosoma 1.23 long, 0.72 wide, oval, greenish.

Palp ( Fig. 6A–D). Femur unmodified, longer than both patella and tibia. Patella as long as tibia, slightly curved. Tibia with 1 retrolateral and 1 dorsal trichobothria, with 3 apophyses; dorsal tibial apophysis (DTA) somewhat triangular-shaped, with serrated margin, retrolateral tibial apophysis (RTA) wider than long with serrated margin and ventral tibial apophysis (VTA) circular, with membranous margin; distal arm of paracymbium (PC) bifurcated with blunt tips; subtegulum forming a shallow circular at the base of tegulum; tegulum (T) almost round, protegulum (PT) distinct, membranous, bifurcated; suprategulum (SPT) small, distal suprategular apophysis (DSA) distinct; embolic division simple, consisting of a radix (R) longer than wide, with anterior radical process (ARP) extending forward; embolus (E) as long as dorsal tibial apophysis, slightly curved, with bifurcated tip in ventral view.

Female. Unknown.
