The Palaearctic species Pyrrhocoris apterus (Linnaeus, 1758)
( Heteroptera : Pyrrhocoridae ) was erroneously reported for the Canary Islands before ( AUKEMA, 2024). Now, the first verifiable record of the species in the archipelago can be reported: On 24-07-2024, a macropterous adult specimen of P. apterus ( Fig. 2 View Fig ) was found in the village of San Andrés on the island of El Hierro. Two photographs of the specimen were uploaded to the online database iNaturalist (see here).
