4.2.2 | Genus Aphanotrigonum Duda, 1932 View in CoL
The five species of Aphanotrigonum identified in our dataset include one species complex and A.palpalis Riccardi ( Riccardi, 2024) . According to Nartshuk and Andersson's (2013) definition, three species in our dataset were identified as A.trilineatum , leading us to assume that the current definition of A.trilineatum corresponds to a species complex that has been previously unrecognised.
The species Aphanotrigonum beschovskii Dely-Draskovits is currently considered a junior synonym of A. trilineatum (Meigen) ( Bystrowski et al., 2023; Nartshuk & Andersson, 2013). Dely-Draskovits (1981) distinguished A. beschovskii by the base of surstylus bearing short setae, unlike A. trilineatum sensu Nartshuk and Andersson (2013) . The longitudinal lines in the scutum are distinctive features of A. trilineatum according to Nartshuk and Andersson (2013). However, our data show that this feature is shared by four species (Figure 5M1, N1, O1, P1). The morphology of the male terminalia and clusters at a 3% threshold support four species, three of which identified as A. trilineatum . The diagnostic features of the species assigned to the cluster 147 are outlined in Table 2.
Our results support the erection of Aphanotrigonum beschovskii as a valid species. The species identified here as A. trilineatum var. 2 corresponds to Nartshuk and Andersson's (2013) figures 142–148 of A.trilineatum . Therefore, A.trilineatum var. 1 should be described as a new species after consultation of the A.trilineatum type series.
