Distribution: Endemic to New Guinea ( Mansfeld, 1925).
Notes: The original type specimen of M. obreensis was not found at the herbarium of the Botanischer Garten Berlin-Dahlem ( B) and assumed destroyed during the Second World War. There is currently no possibility to designated a neotype because no other associated specimens are known .
