Distribution: Endemic to New Guinea ( Mansfeld, 1925).
Notes: The original type collection of M. insignis from the herbarium in Berlin ( B) was not found and assumed lost during the Second World War. Additionally, there was no other associated specimen that could have been chosen as a neotype .
