Physocephala kroeberi View in CoL nom. nov. is a new name for Pseudophysocephala annulipes Kröber 1939 View in CoL – Kröber (1939): 389; type-locality: “ Kenya, Aberdare Range”; HT ♂ [BMNH] – which is a junior secondary homonym of Conops annulipes Wiedemann View in CoL in Meigen 1824: 135; type-locality: “Wahrscheinlich aus Oesterreich ”; HT ♂ [depository unknown, Evenhuis 1997] – available, in- valid: junior synonym of Physocephala pusilla (Meigen, 1804) View in CoL .

Physocephala kroeberi View in CoL is easily recognised by the dis- tinctive black facial marking ( Fig. 92 View Figs 91–93 ), obvious markings on the femora ( Fig. 91 View Figs 91–93 ), and wing pattern with the dis- cal-medial-cubital crossvein not completely surrounded by brown colouration ( Fig. 93 View Figs 91–93 ). It would be informative to see more material to confirm that this is not merely an extreme variation of P. platycephala View in CoL or P. microvena View in CoL , however.
