Note. Thomasson (1966) published a record of Euglena spirogyra var. minor P.Allorge & M.Lefèvre from Zambia [Lake Shiwa Ngandu (Lake Young), northern half, plankton collected at 0.5 m depth, water temp. 23ºC, pH 5.8, 1400 m a.s.l., 19 December 1963 (9.15 h), Symoens 0813], however this variety is of an unknown taxonomical position.
