Type Locality: Java (7.66145°S, 110.7122°E), Indonesia GoogleMaps
Distribution in Nepal: Used in laboratory for sample dissection in Nepal ( Thapa 2019).
Distribution elsewhere: America, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Christmas Island Indonesia, India, Myanmar, Thailand, Taiwan, and Pacific Islands (Gates 1937, 1972; Blakemore 2012; Kharkongor 2018).
Habitat: Cropland, forest garden, grassland, sewage, wasteland ( Miglani et al. 2022).
Ecology: Endogeic ( Miglani et al. 2022).
Remarks: It is used in laboratories but not reported from any natural habitats in Nepal. It has been mentioned in school curriculum as Pheretima posthuma instead of Metaphire posthuma ( Thapa 2019) .
