Diagnosis

Zodarion beticum can be distinguished from other members of the elegans group by the shape of the tibial apophysis, which is terminally recurved and incised in males ( Figure 21C View Figure 21 ), as well as by the W-shaped ridge covering a deep copulatory opening in females ( Figures 25F View Figure 25 , 27E View Figure 27 ).

Description

For a detailed description of the habitus and male palp, refer to Bosmans (1994). Epigyne. ( Figure 27E View Figure 27 ) Epigyne with a single, deep antero-median copulatory opening. This copulatory opening posteriorly surrounded by a robust, W-shaped ridge that includes a broad, deep postero-median incision.
