Distribution. Widespread in Central and Southern Europe. In Spain, scattered records from Alicante to Pontevedra ( Ricarte & Marcos-García, 2017).

Remarks. This is a large and extensively yellow coloured species, especially in southern populations ( Fig. 2C), although two smaller and rather dark specimens were collected ( Fig. 2D), somewhat resembling Chrysotoxum verralli Collin, 1940 . Most of the specimens were collected while visiting flowers of Thapsia villosa . These are the first record for the province of Albacete, Canta- bria, Granada and Jaén.
