Usually a tree, sometimes up to 22 m. Stipules lanceolate, acuminate. Catkins up to 12 cm, pendent. Involucre much longer than nut, divided almost to the base into many long-acuminate, serrate lobes. Balkan peninsula, Romania. Al Bu Gr Ju Rm Tu.
