Annual up to 50 cm, often woody at base. Leaves 12-25 x 0-6-1 mm, semicylindrical, mostly obtuse. Cymes dense. Fruiting perianth much enlarged, baccate, red. Seeds smooth, mostly horizontal. S. Russia; one locality in E. Ukraine. Rs (W, E).
