Perennial, papillose-pubescent. Basal leaves deeply cordate-triangular, scarcely longer than wide, basal lobes and apex rounded; petiole often longer than lamina. Axis of panicle flexuous; branches arcuate at the base. Pedicels filiform, up to twice as long as the valves. Valves c. 6 x 8 mm, broadly reniformscutate, with small, irregular indistinct teeth near the base, one with a small tubercle. 2« = 40. Mainly ruderal. E. & E. C. Europe. Hybridizes freely with R. crispus and R. obtusifolius .
