Current name: Frankenia hirsuta L. View in CoL View at ENA ( Frankeniaceae ).

Note: Siddiqi (in Jafri & El-Gadi, Fl. Libya 64: 4. 1979) designated 457.4 (LINN) as lectotype, but this is a collection from Hasselquist, not originating from either Puglia or Crete and hence not original material. As pointed out by Santos Guerra (in Anales Jard. Bot. Madrid 50: 136. 1992), most of the material on this sheet belongs to F. corymbosa Desf. , of which Siddiqi appears to have been unaware. Santos Guerra noted that the cited Micheli plate and Herb. Burser XVI: 47 ( UPS) both correspond with usage, but did not make a formal choice of type.
