Key to Filipinorhynchus and Pachyrhynchus View in CoL :
1 Head and rostrum discontinuous, rostrum separated from head by transverse groove, basal half with distinct median despression, base of rostrum contricted, narrower than interocular distance of forehead, weakly bulging on apical half; both surface of prothorax and elytra not smooth.............................................. Filipinorhynchus Cabras gen. nov.
- Head and rostrum continuous, without transverse groove, base of rostrum nearly equal to interocular distance of forehead, base mostly flattish except for some members, apical half mostly bulging or swollen; both surface of prothorax and elytra smooth............................................................................ Pachyrhynchus Germar, 1824
In addition, Filipinorhynchus can be identified by body matte, rough, and dull without elaborate scaly markings, not shiny; prothorax with minute punctures with short erect to suberect setae, elytra striate-punctate, narrowly elongate, roughly 2.5X longer than pronotum fully covered in homogenously arranged erect to suberect setae.
