Herbácea, (15)20-40(50) cm, glabra, erecta, ± ramificada en su mitad superior. Hojas 2-pinnatisectas, laciniadas, agrupadas en el tercio inferior del tallo, prácticamente ausentes en la mitad superior. Flores de hasta 1 cm de diámetro, sin involucro, con pedúnculos de longitud apreciable, de color azul pálido. Sépalos ovado-elípticos. Pétalos de longitud doble que los sépalos, bilabiados, con el labio inferior estrechado en la base y profundamente dividido en 2 lóbulos oblongo-lineares. Estambres numerosos, con anteras no mucronadas. Folículos 2-3, de 6-7 mm de longitud, hinchados en la madurez y ± concrescentes en 1/2-3/4 de su longitud; estilos c. 1 mm. 2 n = 12*.
