Frondes pequeñas, que difícilmente superan los 10 cm. Lámina 20-70 × 12-30 mm, 1-pinnatisecta, un tanto glauca y mate; pinnas 2-3 pinnatipartidas, con los segmentos últimos unilaterales.Valvas del indusio ± dentado-fimbriadas. 2 n = 26*; n = 13*.
Roquedos ácidos, umbrosos y húmedos, asociado frecuentemente a un estrato muscinal y no termófilo en grado apreciable; 0-500 m. VI-VII. W de Europa (hasta Escocia, Italia y Alemania), Macaronesia y otros puntos del planeta, muy posiblemente. Cornisa cantábrica, raro siempre, aunque abundante alguna vez. Esp.: C Na O S SS.
