Holotype: ♂. MEXICO: Distrito Federal, Pedregal de San Ángel , Loc. 8, 8/VIII /1 961. Det. S. Zaragoza C. Conservation status: Complete, well-preserved; genitalia and wing glued on a card.
Paratype: 1 ♂. MEXICO : Puebla, E Slope M. Popocatepetl, 29 km E Amecameca (Est. Mexico ), 3125 m, 25/VIII/
1987. Col. J. Doyen.
Conservation status: Complete, well-preserved; genitalia and wing glued on a card. Additional notes: The name of this species has recently been replaced with Photinus wageneri , to avoid
homonymy with P. greeni Lloyd, 1969 .
