Type:— PAPUA NEW GUINEA. Central Papua : Maipa Airstrip, 1962, P.J. Darbyshire 977 ( holotype K; isotypes A, BO, BRI, L) .
Etymology: —The specific epithet derives from the prefix neo -, meaning new, and linearis , the epithet used originally by de Laubenfels (2015).
Distribution:— Endemic to New Guinea, where it grows along the coasts at elevations up to 180 m.
