Notes. The taxonomic status of Pheidole pallidula is in need of further investigation, with the nominal species P. pallidula actually constituting a species complex ( Seifert 2016). On Astypalaia representatives were found in dry, arid areas, ie beaches, phrygana, and agricultural sites, and near dry springs or streams.
