Notes. Temnothorax recedens belongs in the clade of non-parasitic Temnothorax with a circum-Mediterranean and Central Asian distribution. It is widely distributed in Greece, with records from the Aegean restricted to Crete, Samos, and Karpathos ( Scupola and

Borowiec 2023). We collected the species on Astypalaia from various drier agricultural sites and moist natural habitats.
